01
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! Current insurances accepted are Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, HealthPartners of MN & WI and PreferredOne. If your insurance is not listed often plans will have an "Out of Network" rate that can be processed for partial payment. If you use a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) you may use that as an option to pay for services.
02
What should expect in my first appointment?
One of the most important factors in therapy is a good relationship and rapport with your therapist. In the first session I will be sure we spend some time getting acquainted and lead with many questions to start that getting-to-know each other process.
03
Is therapy confidential?
Therapists are bound by laws, both Federal and State, in addition to ethical principles to maintain confidentiality in the relationship. Insurance companies do require some information to process your benefits. However, only in situations where a client will harm themselves or someone else does a therapist intervene and connect with community resources to keep you safe.
04
Are there people you are most effective helping?
I work with clients from all walks of life.
In addition to professional experience with a wide range of wellness concerns, I have lived experience with family addiction, family separation, parenting, work-stress, mixed race families, and grief. My goal is to help work with each client to uncover insight, identify patterns and find adjustments to improve your overall wellness. Along the way we will identify strengths and discuss ways to meet your individual or couple goals.
05
What's your style or mode of therapy?
The modern school of thought is that therapeutic approach should be adapted based on the most effective style for the presenting concern and the client's personality. Thus, I am primarily integrative in my style. Principally I believe that the lens or prescription we see into the world is formed early in life. Was affection readily provided and available to you? Were you expected to be perfect and high-performing? Did the adults in your life demonstrate good emotional regulation skills? Understanding how you became who you are today, integrated with the science on how events can impact your brain/nervous system, is critical to a self-discovery and healing journey. With this awareness we can determine which behaviors are serving your current goals and which ones are not. In many cases we can also build a plan to rework your neurological network.
